AOTW - The Cydonia Domes

The original Enterprise Mission page is here. These domes are located just north of the Tholus at Cydonia.

Hey Mike,

The 'cover' image isn't displaying.

All the links work, though.

Hey Mike,

Did you and Tom Valone ever
get together about making a trip
into the desert to see that stuff I told you
about?

:-)

P.S.: Check THIS out:

http://maps.google.com/

70.545033 N, -40.330811 W

Anybody got jump cables?

;-))

P.P.S.: Who's up for a little "ski trip" to
Greenland?

:-))))

Addendum---

When entering the given
coordinates for The Big Whatsit, leave off
the "N" and the "W"---just enter the location
as

70.545033, -40.330811

and zoom out to get the picture.

Marsandro--

I've been trying to get a look at the 'Greenland thingy', but am not having much luck. When I enter the coordinates at Google maps (without the N and W, as you instructed), I keep getting flipped to a slightly different set of coordinates, and nothing comes up on the 'maps' tab. I tried clicking on the 'terrain' tab, but the load is slow, so I am going to try from work this evening, as we have speedier internet connections at work.

In the meantime, can you at least briefly describe what you're looking at?

Peace,

T'Zairis

Marsandro--

Tried Google Maps from a much-faster computer at work this evening, and it still does not allow me to search the latitude and longitude you have provided.

Here's what happens: when I go to Google Maps and enter

70.545033, -40.330811

and then hit the search button, the site sends me instead to the following coordinates--

70.32'42.12", -40.19'50.92"

My original longitude and latitude are still listed, but the display is zeroed in on the second set of coordinates.

There are also no maps or terrain-views available, so the only thing left is to click on the 'satellite' tab. When I do this, I get a screen full of pinkish and brownish streaks and blots that look a lot like TV static. When I zoom out, I then see what I think is probably the edge of the satellite shot, but there is still nothing but uniform pinky-brown graininess all over the satellite-shot itself.

So apparently, Google Maps is no longer displaying anything much for the original lat. and long. you posted.

Is there any chance that someone may have done a screen-capture or something for the 70.545033, -40.330811 position?

Peace,

T'Zairis

Hmmm...

Interesting problem.

Try this:

1. Simply go to

http://maps.google.com/

2. Grab the map and pull it over until the
continent of Greenland is displayed.

3. Switch to Satellite.

4. You should see an orange-ish looking
tubular object, and a black strip beneath it.

The black strip is some sort of edit mark,
but the other thing appears clearly to be
a giant Sun Cruiser.

It's a LandSat image, and can be seen on
the LandSat web pages as well.

Interestingly, other services have both the
Sun Cruiser *and* the surrounding terrain
painted out.

I'd like to launch an R/C probe from the
coastal town of Jacob's Harbor to try to
get a better look at this thing.

A sounding rocket with a cam-pack should
get the job done.

T'Zairis,

I did exactly what you did,
exactly as I had suggested,
and...

That's it! You're looking at it.

Just zoom out until you can see the whole
enchilada.

Fascinating, eh? :-)

You have the right coordinates. The computer
simply switched coordinate format for you.

And when you're zoomed in too close, that
pattern is indeed all you see.

Note the scale at the lower left of your
image display....

That thing is HUGE....

:-)

Hathor - realizing that IS it!

;-)

P.S.: When it was still frozen inside the
glacier (three years back, before it
suddenly "freed itself" by melting the ice),
it had been listed by a USGS Client Survey
as a gravitational anomaly of unknown nature
(ca 1965).

You can probably look that info up in a
USGS database somewhere. The fact was
noted by the late Frank Edwards in one of
his UFO books.
